It is the biggest museum of wax effigies in Greece and also a great heritage in our history. Everything in this museum, from the moment their idea was perceived until the stage of its creation, was handcrafted by a man, who wanted to enliven elements of his country’s history with lots of love and passion. After hard work the museum opened its gates in 1995 to show the visitors breathtaking moments of the pre-revolutionary period (the foundation of Filiki Eteria, secret school), the Greek Revolution of 1821 (the Rebels, death of Ali Pasa) and picture from the World War II as well (women of Pindos). With his rare talent in sculpting, lots of studying and care, Pavlos Vrellis, created wax effigies of known and unknown warriors and positioned them in rooms that he personally designed. And all that to maintain the country’s heritage and memory.
Opening hours: 10:00-16:00 in winter and 09:30-17:00 in summer.
