Counting almost 20.000 exhibits, the Folklore Museum keeps the traditional culture of Northern Greece alive. It is housed in Modianos Villa, a listed building of 1906, also known as the Old Government House. The museum displays items related to the people’s daily life such as fishery, agriculture, livestock farming, pottery, sewing, and embroidery as well as textile industry. Therefore, the first-time visitors are granted with the opportunity to meet and appreciate both the past as well as the present of their area whilst the older ones have the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane. After the tour in the museum, one can enjoy the beautiful yard available which is reminiscent of an oasis, especially when compared to the city’s cement.
Opening Hours: Daily (except Thursdays): 09:00-15:30 & Wednesdays 09:00-21:30
