This museum includes exhibits through which the history of the Olympic Games, the longest established institution of the antiquity, is presented. The purpose of the museum is not only presenting information about the games in the antiquity, but also introducing the visitor to the institution of the Olympic Games. Covering topic sections about the prehistory of sports in Greece, the organization of the Games, the athletes' preparation, the female struggles to participate in the Games but also data from other national competitions such as the Pythian games, the Nemean games and the Panathenaea games, the exhibits ensure the visitor's tour at an era, whose importance derives from the fact that it is the onset of institutions preserved until now with great brilliance.
