Metamorphosis (The Transfiguration of the Saviour) is the metropolis of the island. It was built in 1824 by the refugees from Asia Minor, who brought along sacred heirlooms, icons and the bell from Psara, which are preserved in the church with religious deference. In this Orthodox Church the words of the older refugees and the first canticles were heard. This is also where the name of the city of Ermoupoli was given to by D. Rallis. You should definitely visit it due to its historicity and architecture, since it is an elaborately decorated church, with gold prevailing in its interior and the blue color on its dome. It also has strong Baroque features, two iconostasis and a wide parvis.
