Pigeon houses are characteristic buildings on the island. Their structure is peculiar, they are exteriorly decorated elaborately and their basic use is pigeon breeding. The bottom part of the pigeon house was used as a summer residence for the owner, a stable or a barn, and the upper part was specially formed to fit only pigeons. Today there are 65 pigeon houses, most of them abandoned, some still being used for pigeon breeding and some having been transformed into rental accommodations.
