The highest point of the fortress Its Kale, was chosen to build Fetichie Tzami (mosque of the occupation) after the city was surrendered to the Ottomans. Initially it was wooden and consisted of two marble columns dating back to the 13th century that were built-in in a recess. It is said that it was built on the byzantine temple of the Taxiarches. In 1611 it was rebuilt with stone and in 1795, Ali Pasa renovated it as a mosque for his people.
