The most important of all the ‘Faneromeni’ monasteries in Greece, it is a cruciform church with a dome. At the entrance, you will see two columns with Ionic capitals. Inside, there are two layers of frescoes: the most recent post-Byzantine, 17th century, and the oldest dating from the 13th century. Near the monastery there is the fortress of Alatargias which protected the road from Piada to Akrocorinthos.
